The last meeting of the Rochester Modern Quilt Guild took place on Wednesday, November 12th at the Fairport Baptist Home. We had many familiar faces and also welcomed several new guests! As a reminder…dues are DUE! Please get yours to Julie ASAP if you haven’t already. Membership cards and buttons were given out to MQG paid members; see Sherri if you did not get yours!
Social – Our Christmas party will take place at our January meeting. We will be going out to dinner instead of having a regular meeting. We will also do our chicken pincushion exchange. More details to come.
Charity – More improv bloom blocks were collected; they look amazing! Thank you to Francesca for finishing the quilt!
Our next charity block is Modern Spool. Instructions available on Facebook and in the image here. This block will be collected at any of our meetings through February.
Challenge – Reminder that the ‘Black/White/Bright’ challenge is due in February and the Magazine Page 19 is due in June if you want to participate in either.
Special Event – Shop Hop 11/16/14. Mini Quilt Con – Please vote on Facebook for which weekend works better for you if you want to attend. Location will be at Notre Dame retreat center on Canandaigua Lake, February 2015.

Program – We had a great round table discussion about quick gift ideas for the holidays (with many examples to see as well!):Shellee – easy table runners, Nancy – tree ornament, MJ – cell phone stand, jewelry pouch, infinity scarves; Cheryl – clothes hanger covers, candle mat; Francesca – quilted coaster, make-up brush roll; Margaret – coasters, pot holder; Amy – pot grabbers, lanyards and luggage tags or badge holders, felt cookies, textures quilts for babies; Gretchen – water bottle koozie, Sherri – coaster’s made out of charm squares. Next month’s topic is rulers. Please bring in your favorite ruler/template, and examples of what you have made with it, if possible.
