We had a smaller gathering likely due to holiday filled schedules and snow.
Some upcoming events:
The Rochester Modern Quilt Guild has been asked to do a Trunk Show on Tuesday, January 14th. We will need quilts, wall hangings, mug rugs, Modern Quilting books/magazines to bring along and also a few volunteers. More information to come.
Our January meeting will feature a fiber postcard presentation.
Quart sized bags filled with scraps are for our February meeting Scrap Exchange, More details to come. Finished projects will be due in June.
Memberships are due! We will be officially joining the worldwide Modern Quilting Guild in January.
Next up was our Holiday Mug Rug Exchange. Cheryl had us choose cards to pick our gift choosing order and off we went.
Our members are so creative and pretty friendly too. There was a bit of stealing, but I think everyone went home happy with their new mug rug.
Next up was our first UFO show and tell! Approximately sixteen participants signed up and paid to be a part of a UFO Challenge. This was our first month. There were certainly more people who were not done than done…just more to put in the kitty for those who finished!
Francesca completed a heart quilt as a Christmas gift.
Gretchen had some swirly blocks from a class that went together to make a nice purse to be gifted.
A new block for our Modern Quilt Guild Member Quilt was completed by Jaye.
Julia had some extra blocks and added them to a fleece vest to form embellishments and pockets. Another block was added to a tote.
Nicely done ladies! It seems that the gentle push did help some get their UFO’s done. Many, who will not be named, received blue “encouragment” cards. You can do it!
We finished up our meeting with more Show and Tell.
Shellee has been very busy doing some beautiful quilting. She has a new baby quilt, a wedding gift, and an almost done Halloween quilt using the Falling Charms Quilt pattern.
Sherri had more mug rugs and a table runner gift for her sister.
Kim showed us her finished do. Good Stitches quilt and a nautical themed gift using the Simply Woven Quilt Pattern. Love that Simply Woven pattern.
Next was a table runner from Jill. One special feature is the fringe, what a find from JoAnn’s!
Beth and Julia told us about their NYC trip to the Fashion District and showed off some finds.
The final show and tells were Amy’s matching friend farewell quilt and no-slip headbands. They really don’t slip!
Happy Holidays to all and have a Happy New Year!
Hope to see you all next month at our January Meeting on Wednesday, January 8 from 7-9.
Hi Amy, nice job with the post! Just FYI, the charity bee is do. Good Stitches. Great pictures!
Wonderful job again, Amy!
Just love their work ethic and they saved me time.
